Video Information
Read video duration, intrinsic width×height, MIME type, and file size from browser video metadata.
How to use
- Choose one video and run to inspect the length, dimensions, MIME, and size understood by the browser.
Capabilities and scope
A temporary Object URL is attached to HTMLVideoElement and duration, videoWidth, and videoHeight are read after loadedmetadata.
How it works
video preload=metadata loads container metadata, reports duration seconds and intrinsic dimensions, then the Object URL is revoked.
Example
A supported 1920×1080, 30-second video shows its duration, 1920×1080 dimensions, MIME, and file size.
Useful for
- Quickly check basic duration and pixel dimensions before publishing a video
Before you use it
- Codec, fps, bitrate, and rotation metadata are not deeply analyzed, and unsupported containers/codecs can fail metadata loading.
Frequently asked questions
Are the dimensions the CSS display size?
No. They are HTMLVideoElement videoWidth/videoHeight, the intrinsic pixel dimensions reported by the media.
