File Information
Display the filename, MIME type, byte size, and last-modified time exposed by the selected File object.
How to use
- Select one file and run to inspect the basic metadata the browser knows about it.
Capabilities and scope
The browser File properties name, type, size, and lastModified are formatted for the current locale.
How it works
File properties are read directly; size uses 1024-based B/KB/MB/GB formatting and lastModified uses Intl.DateTimeFormat.
Example
Selecting example.txt can show its name, text/plain MIME, size, and modification timestamp on separate lines.
Useful for
- Quickly inspect file type, size, and browser-visible modification time before an upload
Before you use it
- It does not parse format-specific metadata such as EXIF or document authors, and MIME can be supplied by the browser/OS.
Frequently asked questions
Does it inspect the file's internal metadata?
No. This tool reports general File properties rather than deeply parsing each format.
