File to Base64
Encode every byte of the selected file as a standard Base64 string.
How to use
- Choose the file, run the encoder, and copy the resulting text where needed.
Capabilities and scope
The file is read into Uint8Array chunks, converted to a binary string in 0x8000-byte pieces, and passed to btoa.
How it works
ArrayBuffer bytes are joined as a Latin-1-style binary string and btoa(binary) returns the payload.
Example
A small text file becomes the Base64 representation of its exact file bytes.
Useful for
- Prepare a small file as a Base64 API fixture or configuration payload
Before you use it
- No data: MIME prefix is added; Base64 expands the data and large files require significant browser memory.
Frequently asked questions
Does it create a Data URL?
No. The result is raw Base64 without a data: prefix.
