Text File Viewer
Read a text-like file in the browser and display its leading content as plain text.
How to use
- Choose one text, JSON, CSV, Markdown, or similar file and run the viewer.
Capabilities and scope
File.text() decodes the file, then the displayed result is capped with slice(0, 5_000_000).
How it works
The browser text decoding result is limited to its first 5,000,000 JavaScript code units for the preview.
Example
A long log can be opened to inspect or copy its beginning without installing an editor.
Useful for
- Quickly inspect a local text file without uploading it
Before you use it
- There is no encoding selector and content after 5,000,000 code units is omitted from the preview, so this is not a full large-file editor.
Frequently asked questions
Is the entire file always shown?
