Audio Information
Open an audio file with a browser audio element and report duration, MIME type, and file size.
How to use
- Choose one audio file and run to inspect the duration, MIME, and size understood by the browser.
Capabilities and scope
A temporary Object URL is assigned to an audio element; after loadedmetadata, duration is formatted for the locale.
How it works
An HTMLAudioElement with preload=metadata receives the Object URL and reports duration seconds plus File.type/size after metadata loads.
Example
A supported 185.4-second audio file reports about 185.4 s along with its MIME and size.
Useful for
- Check playback length and basic file information before uploading audio
Before you use it
- The browser must support the container/codec metadata; bitrate, sample rate, channel count, and embedded tags are not shown.
Frequently asked questions
Is the audio uploaded for analysis?
No. It uses only a local Object URL and the browser media element.
