Webcam Tester
Open a selected camera with getUserMedia and show a live preview plus negotiated track settings.
How to use
- Choose a camera, start preview, allow browser permission, then inspect the video and settings.
Capabilities and scope
The release runner lets you choose a videoinput and displays width, height, frameRate, and aspectRatio from the video track getSettings().
How it works
Default uses video:true; a chosen device uses exact deviceId, and the MediaStream is attached to the page's video element.
Example
A camera negotiated at 1080p can report 1920×1080 plus its actual frameRate in settings.
Useful for
- Check webcam permission, preview, and negotiated resolution in the browser
Before you use it
- Values are negotiated track settings, not a guarantee of the sensor's maximum native specification; there is no recording, photo capture, or image-quality analysis.
Frequently asked questions
Is the camera stream sent to a server?
No. The getUserMedia stream is attached only to the local page preview.
