Keyboard Tester
Show up to 12 recent keydown events with key, code, modifiers, and repeat state in a focused test area.
How to use
- Click the input area to focus it, then press keys or modifier combinations and inspect the recent-event list.
Capabilities and scope
The enhanced tester prevents the keydown default and records Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Meta plus event.key, event.code, and event.repeat.
How it works
Each keydown prepends a record and the history is sliced to the latest 12 events.
Example
Pressing Shift+A records a key value, code KeyA, the Shift modifier, and its repeat state.
Useful for
- Inspect which KeyboardEvent values the browser receives from a keyboard
Before you use it
- OS-reserved shortcuts or keys not delivered by the browser may be absent, and this does not expose raw hardware scan codes.
