Zero-width Character Cleaner

Remove U+200B through U+200D and U+FEFF zero-width/BOM-related characters from text.

How to use

  1. Enter text suspected of containing zero-width characters and run.

Capabilities and scope

Only those selected invisible code points are deleted; ordinary spaces, NBSP, and other formatting controls remain.

How it works

The implementation replaces /[\u200B-\u200D\uFEFF]/g with an empty string.

Example

a<U+200B>b becomes ab.

Useful for

  • Remove ZWSP, ZWNJ, ZWJ, or BOM characters that interfere with text comparison

Before you use it

  • Removing ZWJ/U+200D can alter emoji sequences or scripts that rely on joining behavior.

Frequently asked questions

Does it remove NBSP too?

No. U+00A0 NBSP is not part of this removal pattern.
