Sort Lines
Sort lines ascending or descending with options for natural numeric order, case sensitivity, deduplication, and trimming.
How to use
- Paste the lines, choose direction and desired options, then run the sort.
Capabilities and scope
A dedicated runner uses localeCompare and can order embedded numbers naturally, such as item 2 before item 10.
How it works
Optional trimming and deduplication happen first; localeCompare applies numeric and sensitivity settings, then descending mode reverses the result.
Example
item 10, Item 2, item 1 sorts naturally as item 1, Item 2, item 10 in ascending numeric mode.
Useful for
- Sort filenames, lists, or numbered labels naturally
Before you use it
- No separate sort locale is selected, and duplicate comparison changes with the case-sensitive option.
Frequently asked questions
Is deduplication done before sorting?
Yes. After optional trimming, duplicates are removed under the selected case rule and then the lines are sorted.
