Capabilities and scope
pdf-lib PDFDocument.load opens the structure and getPageCount() supplies the result.
How it works
PDF bytes are loaded without metadata updates and the document page-tree count is read.
Example
A 12-page PDF returns 12.
Useful for
- Check total PDF pages before printing or splitting
Before you use it
- Encrypted, damaged, or otherwise unreadable PDFs cannot be counted by this runner, and page count is not physical sheet count.

Does it render the page contents?
No. It only reads the PDF document page count.
