CSV Column Extractor
Extract a zero-based column from each line using simple comma splitting.
How to use
- Enter CSV-like lines and a zero-based column index, then run.
Capabilities and scope
This is not a full CSV parser: each line uses line.split(',') and the selected index is clamped to at least zero.
How it works
Each line is split on literal commas; the indexed value is returned or an empty string when the column is missing.
Example
For a,b,c 1,2,3, column 1 returns b 2.
Useful for
- Quickly pull one field from simple unquoted comma data
Before you use it
- Quoted commas, escaped quotes, and multiline CSV fields are not supported.
Frequently asked questions
Is the first column numbered 1?
No. Indexing starts at zero, so the first column is 0.
