Countdown Timer
Run a 1-999 minute countdown with start, pause, resume, reset, and a short completion sound.
How to use
- Set the countdown minutes.
- Press Start.
- Pause/resume as needed or reset the timer.
Capabilities and scope
This is a single-interval browser countdown. While the page is active, remaining time is updated from a 250 ms JavaScript timer.
How it works
Remaining milliseconds are reduced on 250 ms timer ticks and displayed after conversion to whole seconds. At zero, the timer stops and Web Audio plays a short completion tone.
Example
A 5-minute timer begins at 05:00 and counts down to 00:00.
Useful for
- Time a short focused task
- Set a cooking or break timer
- Use a timer without installing an app
Before you use it
- JavaScript timers can be throttled in background tabs or while a device sleeps, so this is not a precision measurement instrument.
- The tool does not request Notification permission; a system notification is only possible when permission was already granted.
Frequently asked questions
