Unicode Escape Converter
Convert each Unicode code point into a JavaScript-style Unicode escape string.
How to use
- Enter text and run the escape conversion.
Capabilities and scope
BMP characters use four-hex-digit u escapes, while code points above U+FFFF use braced code-point escapes.
How it works
Each code point is converted to hexadecimal and formatted according to whether it fits in 16 bits.
Example
A is represented as a u0041-style escape and 😀 as a u{1f600}-style escape.
Useful for
- Inspect source-style escape forms of Unicode code points
Before you use it
- This action only generates escape strings; it does not provide the reverse unescape operation.
Frequently asked questions
Does an emoji become two surrogate escapes?
No. Iteration is by code point, so values above U+FFFF use one braced escape.
