Checksum Calculator
Apply a selected SHA digest to text and return a hexadecimal value for checksum-style comparison.
How to use
- Enter the text and choose SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512, then run.
Capabilities and scope
The implementation shares the Web Crypto digest path with text hashing, while this UI is framed for comparing text checksums.
How it works
UTF-8 bytes are passed to crypto.subtle.digest and the resulting bytes are serialized as hex.
Example
If two SHA-256 checksums differ, the input byte sequences differ.
Useful for
- Quickly compare text before and after transfer or editing
Before you use it
- CRC, Adler, MD5, and other checksum algorithms are not offered; only the listed SHA algorithms are selectable.
