MIME Type Lookup
Look up a file extension in a built-in map of common MIME types.
How to use
- Enter an extension with or without the leading dot and run.
Capabilities and scope
A leading dot is removed and the extension is lowercased before matching common web, image, document, archive, audio, video, and WASM types.
How it works
Unknown extensions fall back to application/octet-stream.
Example
.webp returns image/webp.
Useful for
- Check a common Content-Type value for a known extension
Before you use it
- The map is not an exhaustive OS or server MIME registry, so other legitimate extensions can fall back to octet-stream.
