Tabs to Spaces
Replace every tab character with a user-selected 1-to-16 number of spaces.
How to use
- Enter text and choose the tab width, then run the conversion.
Capabilities and scope
A dedicated runner defaults to width 4 and substitutes each tab with a fixed count of space characters.
How it works
Width is clamped to an integer from 1 to 16 and /\t/g is replaced by ' '.repeat(width).
Example
At width 4, foo becomes four spaces followed by foo.
Useful for
- Convert tabs in code or configuration text to fixed spaces
Before you use it
- It does not calculate tab-stop alignment; every tab receives the same number of spaces regardless of column.
Frequently asked questions
Does the number of spaces depend on the current column?
No. Each tab is replaced by exactly the selected width.
