Running Pace Calculator
Calculate average running pace and speed in both kilometre and mile units from distance and elapsed time.
How to use
- Enter distance and choose km or mile.
- Enter elapsed hours, minutes, and seconds and calculate.
Capabilities and scope
Distance can be km or mile; duration is entered as hours, minutes, and seconds with minutes/seconds limited to 0–59.
How it works
The runner normalizes distance and duration, then derives sec/km, sec/mile, km/h, and mph.
Example
5 km in 30 minutes gives 6:00 min/km and about 10 km/h.
Useful for
- Review average pace from a running result
- Compare kilometre and mile pace from one effort
Before you use it
- Stopped-time inclusion depends on the duration you enter; grade, wind, and instantaneous speed are not adjusted.
Frequently asked questions
Are pace and speed different information?
They are inverse views of the same average effort, and the runner displays both for convenience.
