IP Address Validator
Strictly parse an IPv4 or IPv6 address and show a normalized representation when valid.
How to use
- Enter an IP address and run Validate.
Capabilities and scope
The dedicated runner validates IPv4 octets and leading zeros, and expands IPv6 compression and embedded IPv4 into eight four-digit hex groups.
How it works
IPv4 checks four decimal octets; IPv6 checks compression count, hexadecimal group lengths, and total group count before normalization.
Example
2001:db8::1 is recognized as IPv6 and displayed in fully expanded normalized form.
Useful for
- Validate IP syntax in logs or configuration and obtain a normalized form
Before you use it
- Zone identifiers, CIDR prefixes, and hostnames are not accepted as plain-address input here.
