HTML Entity Decoder

Decode HTML entities by assigning the input to a textarea's innerHTML and reading its value.

How to use

  1. Enter the entity-encoded string and run decoding.

Capabilities and scope

The browser HTML parser performs entity interpretation and textarea.value exposes the decoded text.

How it works

A temporary textarea receives innerHTML=input and its value is returned.

Example

&lt;b&gt;&amp;&lt;/b&gt; becomes the literal text <b>&</b>.

Useful for

  • Restore readable characters from entity-encoded HTML source

Before you use it

  • If you later insert the decoded string as innerHTML, markup can become active, so downstream context still requires safe handling.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool render decoded HTML automatically?

No. It returns a text string; how you use it afterward is separate.
