Date Difference Calculator
Calculate the absolute calendar-day gap between two dates together with direction, weeks, and weekday count.
How to use
- Choose the start and end dates.
- Run the calculation.
- Review days, week equivalent, weekday count, and direction.
Capabilities and scope
This tool measures the calendar-day distance between a start and end date. Direction is shown separately, so reversing the inputs does not hide which date comes first.
How it works
Both date-only values are represented at UTC midnight and their millisecond difference is divided by 86,400,000. The primary result uses the absolute value while the signed direction is preserved separately.
Example
Monday to the following Monday is 7 days and is displayed as 1.00 week.
Useful for
- Measure a project date interval
- Check how many days separate a booking from a reference date
- See a weekday count alongside the raw date gap
Before you use it
- There is no time-of-day input, so the result is an integer calendar-day distance.
- Weekday count excludes Saturdays and Sundays only; public and regional holidays are not included.
Edge cases
- When the end precedes the start, the primary day count stays positive and direction is reported as before.
Frequently asked questions
Are both endpoint dates counted as full days?
The primary value is elapsed midnights between the two dates, so identical dates return 0.
Are public holidays excluded from business days?
No. The current weekday calculation only removes Saturdays and Sundays.
