Fuel Economy Converter
Convert fuel economy among km/L, L/100km, US mpg, and UK mpg, including the reciprocal L/100km relationship.
How to use
- Enter a positive fuel-economy value and choose the vehicle-spec notation from km/L, L/100km, US mpg, or UK mpg.
Capabilities and scope
Distance-per-fuel units improve upward, while fuel-per-distance L/100km improves downward; the converter handles that reciprocal relationship explicitly.
How it works
Inputs are normalized to km/L. L/100km uses `100/value`; US mpg is multiplied by 0.425143707 and UK mpg by 0.35400619 before converting to the target.
Example
10 L/100km equals 10 km/L, or about 23.5215 US mpg.
Useful for
- Compare vehicle specs in L/100km and km/L
- Convert US mpg to km/L
- Distinguish US and UK mpg values
Before you use it
- It does not predict real-world consumption from weather, driving style, or vehicle condition.
- Zero L/100km is not a meaningful input because reciprocal conversion divides by the value.

Frequently asked questions
Why is lower L/100km better?
It measures fuel needed per 100 km, so less is more efficient; km/L and mpg move in the opposite direction.
